The Manningham-Nillumbik community is culturally diverse with a population of approximately 107,000 residents in Manningham and 60,623 in Nillumbik. A large number of heritage buildings, trees and landscapes are reminders of the long habitation by Indigenous people, the early gold mining settlements and the area’s orcharding past.

The Shire of Nillumbik is 25 kilometres north-east of Melbourne and stretches 29 kilometres to Kinglake National Park in the north. Manningham, is suburban in comparison with the more rural Nillumbik and has a local economy serviced by more than 12,600 businesses, 82% of which are ’small businesses’ and approximately one third home-based.
